A pansy, a parade and a beast

This year I managed to grow some flowers.  This pansy plant is still hanging on despite the cool summer we've had.

Today is the day of the annual street fair nearby...thousands of people come from all over to walk up and down Solano Avenue.  There's a parade...
The music continues all afternoon, with bands stationed at fairly close intervals...the sounds and rhythms all merge and swirl around in my little back yard.  The delicious food smells also waft about temptingly.  I could not resist...why even try?

Here is the bumblebeast...I started him before learning from Jude about patchwork beasts, and yesterday, feeling I was neglecting him, I added some stitching.  Oh and the nurses have been getting restless, so I put a couple of them in the shop...

  2. Deanna, it's called viola 'etain'. You can find it at the Annie's Annuals website
http://www.anniesannuals.com/ If you look under 'plants by color' you can find it there, but probably also in the search mechanism. It's almost psychedelic...

  3. How we need parades! This looks like it was a great celebration!

  4. It is, Elizabeth...the street is closed to cars for a mile or so, and it becomes filled instead with people strolling up and down, eating, looking at artwork, listening to music...

  5. Jude, thank you, and for stopping by...I'm stitching all around him and how I do love how it blends the fabrics...he's a bit uncomfortable and so I'm waiting to see if he speaks up about what he might need...

  8. Hi Suzanna,

I'm back in blogland. It's nice to see your patchwork beast here. I have just started the workshop. Because of the holidays and other activities I couldn't start earlier. It's strange to be the only one doing the workshop now as everybody finished it :(
I would love to sit in your backyard listening to all this music!

  9. Hi Sandra...welcome back! I've missed you...I hope you'll post your beasts on your blog so we can see them and accompany you that way...are you going to be able to join the cloth whispering?

  10. Yes, I'll post my beast on my blog and perhaps on the beast blog. I think I'll join the cloth whispering later, because I'm still busy with the beasts and I've started a drawing education. Are you joining the cloth whispering?
