Hello everyone. I'm very happy to be home after my transcontinental train journey. We passed through Whitefish, Montana on the night of the full moon:
But before that, while in Washington, D.C., inspired by Elizabeth's blog, I went looking for equestrian statues, and found Ulysses S. Grant, who fought in the Civil War for the Union:
I am fighting a Civil War internally, hoping to vanquish some very potent cold germs. Pretty soon I will go get some herbs, because that always helps.
Here's a ghostly view of Mt. Hood in Oregon...part of the last leg of my trip:
And lastly, 2 projects I've been working on. This is an experiment using applique techniques that Jude has been demonstrating in her Magic Diaries 2 online class.
And this is the beginning of an ipad cover (I think). I visited my grand-parents grave in New Jersey...my grandson is very into the Beatles and this song kept going through my mind...I like to think that my grand-parents are still here...
That's all for now...stay healthy!!!

ReplyDeleteSuzanna, love your ipad cover. Your photos are beautiful -- I linked to you on my blog for that beautiful train photo of the moon! Hope you're feeling better -- isn't it just the best to be HOME again?
ReplyDeleteHi Peggy, oh it is so good to be home and being confined to home for rest and healing is pretty nice too! That moon really felt like it was pulling me home...thanks for the mention!
DeleteWelcome home! Your train travel brought back fond memories for me. We visited Whitefish, Mt. every year for 20+ years and loved that area. We even honeymooned in Essex, Mt.! Your stitcheries are beautiful. Your ipad cover is wonderful. I have had the Beatles "Blackbird" song in my head all weekend.
ReplyDeleteHi Jeannie, thanks for your kind thoughts! I didn't see much of Whitefish, because we were just passing through (9 at night) but now I feel very curious about it and perhaps will plan an overnight stay sometime to explore...have been reading a lot about ranching in Montana...
DeleteDear Suzanna, welcome home! That is indeed a grand horse. Love the floating mountain. I'm seeing some beautiful mountains on blogs at the moment.
ReplyDeleteThat wild stormy pony is lovely.
Hi Elizabeth...glad you like the horse...for some reason I was expecting to find more equestrian statues in D.C., but looking for this one (I daren't venture too far from the train station) made me realize that the National Gallery is also within reach. It's a nice challenge to fill the time between trains wisely.
DeleteHave you read any of Ivan Doig's books? He writes about growing up in Montana and they are a delight.
ReplyDeleteI have, and I love them. Also, lately I've been watching "the Last Cowboy" on Netflix...about 3 very different Montana ranch families...a LOT of work being a rancher...
DeleteGreat moon shot! Hope you feel better...just listen to more Beatles, that'll do it! :)
ReplyDeleteI saw a great statue of George Washington on his horse in Boston!
Take care.
Thanks Nancy! We're having some much needed rain, so it's easy to stay inside getting healthier. It's a cozy sort of rain...
ReplyDeleteAlways nice to get home again.
ReplyDeleteKeep fighting that cold.
Love the stitchings and the idea of making a pad cover.
Hi Penny, today I'm curled by the fire, stitching away...feeling more like myself by the minute. Thank you!
DeleteYour blue horse seems so joyful! Glad you are feeling better!
ReplyDeleteThanks Deb! Have started up yoga practice again and that helps a lot. Today am getting ready to start my indigo vat...kind of scary exciting!
