Heat Wave

It's been warm, verging on Hot, here.  It does not feel like November.  But with the new light, waking up early comes more readily.  Yesterday I awoke feeling I was being watched.  There was a shape on the studio roof:

The passage of time revealed that the owner of the shape was...Buddy!

Buddy is a special visitor because, believe it or not, he once saved Edgar's life.  That is a story for another time.  Edgar doesn't feel especially grateful and spends a lot of time in his dish, especially during the heat wave:

So, while all this has been going on, I've been stitching away on the farm cloth...now it has a backing and just needs a little more quilting.  Here is the bottom left corner:
It needs to be done by Thanksgiving...so far, so good...

  4. Hi Deanna...yes I think so...shadowy and shy but quite communicative. Poppy also lived to be 18...her former owner had removed the claws from her front paws, but Poppy had no adversaries...just a very intimidating stare.

  8. Thanks Penny! Yes, it is an amazing story and I've been pondering how to put it in cloth. I love working on this big project and at the same time look forward to start some new little ones.

I just noticed a beautiful piece of broken china next to Edgar's bowl. is it possible to see more of it? and your farm cloth looks like a whale cloth. cheers, k.

  12. Hi Els...Yes the farm cloth photo will appear very soon. The farm is in the Central Valley of CA...no whales! I'll explain more with the photo. My backyard is very small, but all sorts of things go on here, now that I'm tuned in to observing...

p.s. sorry the replies don't follow the comments correctly. Blogger/blogspot is on some other wavelength in this regard.
