Birds and bees and trees

The most wonderful videos have been appearing at Jude's, and I couldn't resist trying out the holiday trees as little bookmarks for menfolk...here are the beginnings:

Over the weekend, I took a needle-felting class with Kate Weese and made a 3-D bee:

and then a little flat bee, just to see if that would work for a plan that's cooking:

  1. Hello Suzanna,
I really like the cloth in the first image. Lovely balance of color and I love the quirkiness of the big bird. It's very jolly I think. makes me think of early on a crisp Winter's morning.

  3. Catherine...thank you...you're right, I'm trying to imagine that crispness, what a good word...that I miss from winter back East. We have our own sort of winter here though, and the leaves are finally falling, lying in colorful circles around the newly bare trees. Each day brings something new. Good to hear from you!

  4. Hi Kaite...well I'm hoping to try for earrings...if I can figure out a way to manage it. Mostly if it all seems sturdy enough.

  15. I am sooooo slow these days, or maybe just so tired. The house painters finished the outside of the house yesterday, and so now we'll be moving inside, and we plan to do a lot of the inside work ourselves. I'm not sure that I am up for it, it's very strange how the sound of men scraping and hammering all around you is exhausting just in itself! But I wanted to tell how much I love that fat little felted bee. And those wings!! I've been wanting to try felting, too. It's on a long list of things I want to do. You keep inspiring me to try new things. I have half a post started, so maybe maybe I'll make it back to blogland soon. xo Kari

  16. Kari, it's very good to hear from you...it is SO tiring to have disturbances to the peace and comfort of home, even when the end result promises to be improvement. I imagine that being back inside will be more restful. I hope! You'll be very welcome back in blogland...I am definitely looking forward to your posting. Meanwhile, take care...breathe...
