The winner!

And the winner is...

First I have to tell you that my original plan didn't work as intended.  I put the four names and a bit of kibble plus a special treat in each envelope, thinking Gilly would pick one up and begin to devour it, and I would rescue the winner's name before it was too late.  But the packaging wasn't fragrant enough for her to be interested.  So I decided to dispense with the envelopes, and cover the cards with the names on them with a tiny piece of paper towel soaked in sardine oil:

At first she didn't want to participate, but then she was unable to resist any longer and made her choice:

She picked it up and took it to a more private spot, whereupon she ate the sardine oil soaked piece of paper towel and deposited the paper with the name on the ground!
So the winner is Sus!  Congrats!!  Don't worry, the necklace has no smell of sardines!

I forgot to mention this earlier, but there is a consolation prize for all entrants which will be a print of the original pray for rain drop:

Please keep praying for rain in California.  There are already fires down south and it's quite early in the season.

Thank you all so much for participating in this. Send me your snail mail addresses so your prizes will come soon.  To reach me, click "view my complete profile", under the About Me section, over there in the right sidebar.  If there's a problem, just leave a comment and we'll find a solution.

Thank you all and I can't wait to hear from you.

xoxo,
S.

p.s. oops I almost forgot.  Here's Gilly as she woke up this morning. She likes to sleep late, but she had work to do...

The Giveaway!

Finally!  I decided to continue with the Rain Theme for the Giveaway, and here is a California Raindrop, a prayer for more rain...white thread embroidered on a small square...1 3/4 inches of light blue silk (brocade?)   On the back is a bit of home-dyed silk noir.  The "chain" is twined embroidery thread, each side 12",  with silver clasps.  There's a nickle sewn in between the layers so it will hang nicely.  If you would like this little necklace, please leave a comment below!    Gilly will choose the winner...I'll put the names in the little envelopes seen in the last post, along with a bit of kibble, and we'll see which one she picks first!!

Here's Gilly, after her haircut!  Immediately after.  Looking like a puppy again instead of a shaggy old lady. Still with her complimentary neckerchief on.  She hoped to dislodge it and got one leg stuck in it so it was all crooked and silly looking.  Luckily it was stretchy fabric and she survived the tangle.
OK, that's it!  Hope to hear from you...we'll have the drawing on May 15.

xoxo, s.

P.S.  I just (Monday eve.) redid the photos of the necklace so the color and shape is more accurate.  It occurred to me that the scanner might take better pictures than my little camera.

Getting Ready

Hello everyone.  Because one of the key ingredients for the Giveaway, which I mentioned quite a while ago, has gone missing, I've been inspired to create some order around here, in the hopes that the missing element will come out of hiding.  This has become fun, partly because of the discoveries...
I love these little envelopes:

Then, the button family in their new digs:

In other news, we are having a heatwave and this embroidery is the result.

Lastly, and perhaps most exciting of all, Gilly is going for her first beauty treatment.  Well, hopefully she won't look too different, but what with the hot weather, it seemed a good time to have a bit of "professional" grooming, so this is her "before" picture.
She went for her annual checkup and shots etc. and while she is in very good shape, it turns out that it would be better if there were a little less of her, so now she's on a diet.

OK, that's it, stay tuned for the Giveaway...it should be soon!
