Yesterday's rainbow, squirrel and International Bird Fest

There was a short rainbow at the dog park yesterday:

I made some persimmon pudding for book club:

 Finished the Cheeky Squirrel cloth:

Here is an experiment.  It's my dove Molly responding to a recording of a Wattle Bird, that Kaite has on her blog!

  1. poor Molly, she looked a little worried. our wattle birds are a bit threatening, they defend their nectar territory quite strongly. Molly must have heard that.
thanks for the little piece of broken china, i adore old blue china pieces and have quite a collection of them. cheerio, k.

  2. Cheeky squirrel is so much fun. It has the sense of a totem too.

  3. Kaite, there were some jays and crows that seemed also to be answering the wattle bird, but it doesn't come through in the video. One thing I love about that old blue china is the 2 bluebirds that often appear...

  4. Deb, thanks! Much as I wish he(they) hadn't eaten my sunflower, they certainly are entertaining...

  6. Thanks Penny...it surprised me how easy it was, just using the point and shoot camera. Uploading the video took some time but it doesn't seem to have made it slower to appear in the blog. A mystery.

  8. It was such a short little rainbow Deanna, as if the rest of it had gone into the earth and this was all that was left...

  9. What a tender soft rainbow, the rainbow of love and peace. I love your first video, and I know it's such a revelation when you find out that it's quite easy to do, only it needs patience because of the uploading time. Is Molly a bird in your garden? She is so cute.

  10. Hi Sandra, thanks for stopping by...Molly is one of my two Lombardi doves. She's Edgar's mother...I inherited an aviary and Molly and Earnest, Edgar's father, when my next door neighbors moved away. Soon afterward, Edgar was born. They make a lovely cooing sound...sometimes throughout the night...

  11. Hi Suzanna, I thought I left a comment and I haven't - so I'll try again!I'm quite at sixes and sevens at the moment.
There is a wattle bird in residence outside my window, claiming the fuschias and the middle of the gumtree. It is indomitable! The local cat keeps well away. Strange to think of Molly listening to a song sung thousands of miles away!
And actually I really wanted to know how you make persimmon pudding - can you put up a recipe?

  12. I loved watching Molly listening and looking ~ how sweet! And I hope that you and all of your menagerie have a wonderful Thanksgiving. Ours is going to be a confusion of relatives all coming on different days, and because our house is a wreck, we'll be eating at restaurants. But the weather here is cloudy and windy, lots of leaves awhirl, pecans everywhere. Bless you!! xo Kari
